Mission 22K
Build in public · Defined-risk options · Automation

A bot, a $2K account, and every trade in public.

Mission 22K is a public experiment: an automated bot trades small, defined-risk SPY option spreads on a $2,000 paper account, and every trade, win or loss, gets posted here. The goal is $22,000. That is a target, not a promise or an expectation.

The mission

Most small-account stories online show only the wins. This one shows the rules, the code, the losses and the boring days.

Defined risk only

Spreads where the maximum loss is known before entry. No naked options, no single-leg lottery tickets.

Small, fixed risk

About 1% of the account per trade, a 3% daily stop, and a 2-loss limit per day. The bot stops itself.

Paper first

The bot trades a paper account until its own journal shows a positive edge after costs. Live results, if any, will be reported separately.

Everything public

Every trade is logged and marked to market daily. Losses are never hidden or rolled to avoid booking them.

Read this first. These results are based on simulated or hypothetical performance results that have certain inherent limitations. Unlike the results shown in an actual performance record, these results do not represent actual trading. Also, because these trades have not actually been executed, these results may have under- or over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated or hypothetical trading programs in general are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those being shown. Paper trading uses simulated fills that may be better than real fills. This is not a track record and not a recommendation.

How the bot decides

  1. Pre-market plan. Checks the calendar (FOMC, CPI, jobs days), volatility and the trend, then writes the day's plan.
  2. Waits for a setup. No entries in the first 15 minutes. Only liquid SPY options with tight bid/ask spreads.
  3. Sizes the trade. Contracts = floor(equity × risk % ÷ max loss per contract). If that's zero, it skips.
  4. Exits by rule. Profit target, stop and time stop are set before entry and never widened. Flat before the close.
  5. Logs everything. Fills, P&L and rule checks go to the journal you see above.
